Communities revolve around shared faith and belief in an idea or tribe. This reminded me of church and the importance of belief in the Caribbean. Brands also form communities by uniting people with shared interests. For instance, Nike attracts customers who prioritize an active and healthy lifestyle, valuing fitness, and overall well-being. Patagonia, a leader in sustainable and ethical practices, gathers a community that believes in environmental conservation and fair labor.
Building a community has made me realize how my limited belief in my own worthiness affects me. This mindset exhausts me because I don’t believe I deserve rest, help, empathy, or membership in healthy collaborative communities. Perhaps this lack of belief in deserving community leads to self-depletion and blocks abundance in my life.
I’m curious about how my membership in community can change my perspective on my own worthiness. In the past, as a member to various communities I was praised for self-depletion and rewarded with many awards. I want to shift my view on community membership by engaging a different lived experience towards a new frame of thinking.
