How the conversation started. The question was unexpected however it is important that the record reflects the integrity and honest of a committed teacher. We can look at this video 40years from today as a past educators and know we taught with courage and integrity on fronts.
It is so important those of us who are in classroom advocate for our own interest, because a supported teacher is more able to support her students. A teacher’s is not most valuable because she develop students. She has value because like all other professions she is a worker. Throughout the region and the world the research indicates that teachers are overwhelmed and leaving the profession at an alarming rate. So, if they are not leaving they are planning to leave.
The only ones who are staying are the those afraid to take the risk and leave, or plan to leave. Teaching created a comfort zone for some workers. Also, the older women reminds us “ It’s a stable income” “ It’s a good job to raise children” as well as “ It’s so much vacation “ The above is why most teachers in the region are teaching. Maybe we can change the profession in our favor if we raise our voices together one by one.
It takes courage to teach.
