Mom, Angela, has been the guiding force of my 2024, steering me through life’s twists and turns with grace.
She is di twist and di tun dem.
Yesterday, Angela was irritable, so I attempted to soothe her with various activities, only to be met with resistance at every turn.
Undeterred, I crafted a personal soothing plan:
1. Walk or strolls around the hospital corridors.
2. Immersing ourselves in color therapy.
3. Simply lending an ear, allowing her to freely express herself.
Despite my efforts, Angela remained adamant, pack my bags and went down to out patient until I was sufficiently calm to walk home.
As I started my pre- work morning shift I was told both Angela and myself was a hot mess after I left.
Nevertheless – New day, New Mercy
Today, as work beckons, I’m challenged with the delicate balance of tending to Angela’s needs while fulfilling my professional duties.
This morning, our focus shifted to:
1. Gentle movements- we walk 0.25miles
2. Prioritizing hydration and nutrition with sips of water and bites of fruit.
3. Social Engagement.
4. Basking in the sunlight, we found a small lil open green space and we walked on the grass
5. Patiently listening as Angela voiced her concerns about leaving the hospital prematurely, recognizing her apprehensions.
6. All the above creates a sense of safety – and itโs in this renewed safety she rest
This, my SUPER 6
While I am giving care Iโฆ. Binge on her scraps and ingest as a form of self care until I can do better
I have a feeling we going and be all right โฆ.
Itโs gunna be a road to walkโฆ some pot holes, some tirelessness, some frustration but we will be all right in the endโฆ
I think we going survive and heal each other
