Each day, I sit down to write, develop some part of the project, an evolving entity on the x-axis of time. Parallel to this runs my role as caregiver to my mother, her need for care a variable that defies prediction.
The project of book making with the project of care. Both demand flexibility, as today’s progress may become tomorrow’s setback. My strategy acknowledges this fluidity, embracing change rather than resisting it.
Caregiving, like, is a complex system. It involves not just tasks, but emotions, managing and building relationships, and the ever-shifting landscape of another’s needs. Some days, decisions are easy; others, they’re lost in the fog of worry and exhaustion.
Yet in this dance with complexity, resilience emerges. It’s found in the small victories – a good writing session, a peaceful moment with mom – and in the ability to adapt when plans inevitably change.
This journey teaches me that progress isn’t linear. It’s a series of iterations, each day a new draft in both my book and my caregiving role. By seeing time as the overlooked factor, I’m learning to measure success not in pages written or tasks completed, but in my capacity to persist and evolve through uncertainty.”
I’ve am learning to measure growth not in milestones achieved, but in the depth of understanding gained.
My book and my caregiving role are no longer separate projects, but intertwined narratives of perseverance, each informing and enriching the other as I navigate the complex system of a life lived fully, with all its uncertainties and revelations.”
