Out of the truck

Pitter, patter, waddle and pull

Pitter, patter, waddle and pull

Her feet motion into the church

It’s the first time at church since the incident

She can walk independently

Previously we used a second hand, abandon

Shaky well used walker from social services

Bless dem I wanted it on sight

After the car ran over her angle

Cause the bone to protrude

And made her foot slant

So she stands on a lean

with

Her left foot permanently

Black and swollen

Causing  poor circulation

 And a mild disability

She moves

 IVY does be moving

On the island you can  see her

And with all her setbacks

Her intentions will her forward

To accelerate beyond expectations

After two weeks in di hospital

We were gud

Den after one month out

Was a fall,

The tumble cost us three months

In bed

People started asking me if she deading

To everything I would say we all right

She resting

I willing to win

And she tenacious

But after about 2 months

I realise she was more afraid

Than injured. The fall left her afraid

She started to trust the grown

Cause you can’t fall when you down

Eventually we got up.

They carried her outside and left

Me and her

I know I can’t carry her so

She would have had to participate

She did

We fall a few times after dat

We learn to land

And we learning to get backup

Look at her today no walker in church.

And she hobbling around to go see she fren dem.

Bless God for ALL His mercies

What might look like a slow limping to you

Is somebody’s winning effort over months of and sometimes years

Di doers does win

Thank God for all of it

Den tell somebody how you moved
