It means valuing self-care alongside caring for others others.
Initially, I thought teaching would ensure financial stability, a sense of belonging, respect at work and more but the reality challenged that belief.
Commitment to students, calling, community, and an unsupportive environment can strain. Teaching’s importance is undeniable, but not to our own detriment.
If you ask enough teachers and their responses are honest. The highest cost of teaching is to self. Somestimes we teach for so long that a shift from “wanting” to “needing” to teach occurs and we dont notice until….
How can teachers transition to the boardroom or consulting or science?
Not all seek this change, yet understanding the paths is crucial.
