Standard-Base Education
It is generally agreed in more of education that it is impossible to achieve success without first identifying clear goals.
Leaving grade 6 ( performance in Reading Literacy ) we should have been able to:
compare and contrast
Demonstrate understanding of age appropriate text
She wasnβt required to meet those standard at Cotton Thomas. So now we are repairing her gaps.
How:
Using reading out loud, repetition and critical thinking skills to develop numeracy and literacy skills.
That means when she is doing maths she is required to read the equation even if she is reading numbers. So after she does the math she has to explain or even while she is doing it this reinforces her understanding
So my focus for the first 2yrs we are mastering the basic primary school standards throughout content areas.
She might not get their first or fast but we will get their for sure. Bit by bit.
I am interrupting her class and home environment by keeping her around me while I do my research, reading and job duties. While I am working she has to start her home work and I am teaching her how to use tools.
So she is learning time table while learning to manipulate the time table charts.
I am not focused on when she finishes high school, what her rank is as she finishes the goal is to finish for sure with a minimum of 5 CSEC subjects.
