It’s not just what happens to us—it’s what happens inside of us.
And when it isn’t healed, it doesn’t just go away.
It gets passed on.
Generational trauma shows up in our reactions, our silence, our shame, our fears. The pain our ancestors couldn’t face doesn’t disappear—it waits. And sometimes… we’re the ones born with the sensitivity to it.
Not because we asked for it.
But because someone has to finally say: it ends here.
And maybe—just maybe—it’s important for me to confront this trauma…
Because it wasn’t confronted when it first needed to be.
Because my great-grandmother, my grandmother, and my mother didn’t have the skills, the support, the knowledge, or the know-how.
So in my healing…
In my becoming the author I aspire to be…
The stories of us are handed to me.
To write.
To face.
To free.
This healing work is biological. It’s generational. And it’s possible.
Eat foods that fuel your brain and body.
Move your body.
Surround yourself with healthy people.
Do small, positive things every day that remind your nervous system: we are safe now.
Patterns we didn’t choose are still ours to heal.
But we don’t have to do it alone.
You are the break in the cycle.
You are the beginning of something new.
